METRO MUSING 4 (10-11)

Dear Friends,

I am back from USA trip for planning Rotary Coordinators’ Institute in the capacity of Moderator. I was happy to be with RI President (E) Kalyan Banerjee and First Lady Binota Banerjee one more time for a day. His office is on the 18th Floor overlooking Lake Michigan and is beautiful. He has invited any Rotarian from our Club, our District or India to visit him while he is in that office.

I do not want to waste your time with my words as many things have happened like BoD, OCV and Projects. You all will agree with me that each picture is a thousand words. Like me, some of you must have missed these events, so please look at the pictures.

More details later. Enjoy Navratri.

SOME GOOD NEWS

Dear Friends,

You must have already received email from President Premal about September programmes as well as the criteria’s for selecting GSE Team Members for Group Study Exchange with RI Districts 9980 - New Zealand and 1750 - France. So permit me to avoid duplication.

NEWS WORTH SHARING
1. Continue making us proud – Rtn. Alok Desai was invited at MICA to share his experience as an Entrepreneur in "Communications Business." It is noteworthy that MICA has a full fledged "Entrepreneurship Development Centre ( EDC )" that encourages students to embark upon their own enterprises and initiate new age business ventures. Alok was a part of the committee there that formed the centre in 2004 and today it has matured into a full fledged body that helps and assists the youth fulfill their dreams. It must have been a great experience to be with the youngsters to know their aims and aspirations. Congratulations Alok!

2. Rtn. Alok Desai also played an important role in organizing meeting with Dr. Sanjeeth Peter of Dharamsinh Desai Memorial Methodist Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, Nadiad on 3rd September in the afternoon. It was one of the important meetings for me as Trustee of RIHF. Not only I met a fine human being but also learnt the meaning of the words “missionary zeal and dedication.” The standard of cleanliness was amazing (I am comparing with other Baroda Hospitals who cater to heart patients). It was a fruitful meeting as he shared his dream and we shared hours. It is possible that we might be working together for a cause that is dear to us.

ATMANIRBHAR CAMP - MEHAMDABAD

Dear Friends,

Kindly go through the pictures to know about Atmanirbhar Camp organized with the help of RC Mehamdabad. They had gone all out and covered 40 villages. Handbills, brochures and mouth-to-mouth publicity did wonders!
The following Members of RCBM were present:
(1). President.Rtn.Premal Smart, (2) Hon.Sec.Mitesh Bhatt (3) Rtn. Nileshbhai Patel, (4) Rtn.Rajan Bhatt, (5) Rtn.P.S.Grower, (6) Rtn. Manisha Bhatt, (7) Rtn. Himansu Rana, (8) Rtn. Hansaben Patel, (9) Rtn.Vijay Bhatt, (10) IPP Dr. Sharmishtha Desai and (11) PDG Dr. Manoj Desai.
Total Number of patients examined and catered to - 183 (On Saturday there were about 120 patients and on Sunday there were 63 patients). Dr.Manoj Desai saw more than 45 patients and Rtn. Manisha Bhatt saw more than 16 patients of various disabilities and gave guidance. 3 patients have been selected for operation.
Pictures would show you new ideas about fellowship over breakfast on the highway and enjoying Chaas at Amul Counter. In the 21st century these are the new fellowships that we are embarking upon.
Regarding the patients, let me be a bit serious as far as patients and Project is concerned as well as experience shared by all. It was a grand success. Stories that our picture tells can bring tears on any onlookers' eyes. It gave tremendous job satisfaction to those who attended. Rotary Club of Mehamdabad has got two Rotarians affected by polio who were so much touched. Chairman Vipul and other Rotarians told me their expression in the following words:
"(1) I had a dream to organize a mega camp. With your help I have fulfilled this dream today.
(2) I had tears in my eyes to see the plight of patients and to be worthy of being a Rotarian
(3) If this is Rotary, I am all for it. Thank you for your help.
(4) Can't we have this meaningful activity every year?"
It was note-worthy that Assistant Governor Hiren shukla remained present all throughout the camp. Kudos to President Dhiren Shah, Secretary Harshidaben and both Vipuls for the painstaking efforts and the wonderful arrangements.
It is a life changing experience friends. The photo of smiling girl - she came to us in crawling position and had never walked in life. After proper analysis and right kind of calipers she walked and Rotarians clapped. That brought smile on her face as new life - human life begins.
DO NOT FORGET - Next BoD Meeting (only for Board of Directors) at Ashish & Rachna Garg's home at 8.00 p.m. on 31st August.

26TH AUGUST FAMILY MEET

Dear Friends,
A memorable family meeting at Hotel Surya Palace on 26th August, 2010. 29 Rotarians and 6 guests remained present in the meeting. All those who were present said only one thing - Yeh Dil Maange More !

President Premal called the meeting to order sharp at 8.15 p.m. and invited IPP Sharmishtha Desai to recite the prayer that she had said at Montreal Convention, Canada.

After the prayer President gave his short and sweet opening remarks and invited Primary Contact for Atmanirbhar Nileshbhai to give details of Mehamdabad Camp. Nileshbhai informed everybody about his trip to Mehamdabad last Saturday for the planning and preparations.

Then President invited me as I had received correspondence from Vipul from Mehamdabad about their preparation. They have gone to 40 villages personally in four teams of 2 members each. Newspaper coverage cutting received are indicative of good efforts. The District Development Officer and Principals of schools are informed about the camp. They were also provided list of 520 patients registered in the Government record, which have been sent personal letters by Rotary Club. The list was handed over to First Lady for records. Overall it looks good preparation from Rotary Club of Mehamdabad.

Then was the turn for Speaker of the Day - our own Rishiraj Mistry but before that Ann Beejal explained some of the important facets of his creativity and success. Then Rishiraj revealed some of the not known facts and the emerging new trends. He had many questions from the audience, which he answered with utmost honesty and wits. He respected Members demand and showed couple of short videos (Lanxess, One Step, Lock & Key) of 5 minutes and advertisements of 1 & 1/2 minutes. Then for the first time, everyone saw Project Nishtha (Relocation of village Dhutarpar) the way he had perceieved, captured and presented to the world. Naturally he got thunderous applause for the beautiful creation, which has earned accolades from the Rotary world. Some of the 10 year old members members had also never seen the mamoth task that we had undertaken. That was truly saga of service that RCBM clan is known for.

After that came the turn for the master piece, which has earned him accolades and the second prize from Balki (Paa Fame Director) in the recent past. It is a 5 minute short film called "UNHEARD." It was altogether a new experience for all our members.

President himself proposed the vote of thanks to the creative genius of our club. After the meeting ended with singing of the National Anthem, Rishiraj and Beejal were busy answering questions till 10.15.

Everyone enjoyed Rachna's selected menu and relished the food.

NEXT MEETING
Mehamdabad Camp on 28th / 29th August. It has been decided to meet at Rotary Hall, Race Course at 7.30 a.m. It is expected to have more patients and hence more help is needed. Those who can, please do so.

ROTARY MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR, MEHAMDABAD - 22nd AUGUST
Kudos to Rotary Club of Mehamdabad - a small club in infancy, who hosted the Intercity Meet very well. Hotel Blue Berry at Nadiad was comfortable and cozy place where the Seminar was held. Total number of registrants was about 150. Baroda clubs were represented badly by only 5 persons from Baroda - 3 from RCBM and 2 from RC JW.
Chief Guest Aloke Billore showed the statistics well and was full of new ideas.
DG Devang was oozing with enthusiasm and steered the Intercity Meet in two roles - (1) As DG and (2) As acting Chairman, as Chairman- Membership PDG Dr. Nilax Mufti could not remain present.
AG Pinky Patel was recognized by Governor.
I performed as Moderator for the debate (EREY for Membership - Yes or No). Unfortunately, Rotarians could not produce the fireworks, which was expected din a debate but meaningful suggestions were made by all the participants. Overall it was a good experience. To be honest, if I tell you my impressions about our club's performance then it could be said without hesitation in a Gujarati Proverb - "Ekda Wagarna Minda Nakama." In other words, when President and Secretary are not there, no one wants to come!?
Let me remind you that on 28th / 29th we have Atmanirbhar Camp at Mehamdabad, hosted by RC Mehamdabad. DO NOT FORGET TO ATTEND THAT.
